GARDEN MEETING - GIBBS & MILLARD GARDEN, BERKELEY CA

AUGUST 20, 2016
Several members and friends of East Bay Rose Society joined with friends and neighbors of Dan Gibbs and Greg Millard in their beautifully maintained garden for a specially prepared luncheon and an Ikebana demonstration by Mr Shuji Ikeda. Mr. Ikeda is a Senior Professor of Junkatoku in the Ikenobo School of Ikebana.

Dan and Greg - enjoying the day in the garden with East Bay Rose Society and friends.

Gibbs Garden

The garden was beautiful and the members gathered on the deck, in the patio, on the balcony - wherever they found congenial company and lovely roses. Gregg Cook chatting with Carolyn Sanders and Dan.

Lovely platters of dessert snacks and food items were placed in the rooms, on the deck, and enjoyed by all.

More, more, more .......

A special treat was meeting Mr. Ikeda who demonstrated the construction of an Ikebana floral arrangement.

The audience was rapt - the demonstration was attention-grabbing ...

Christina Sheward, Tim Aaronson and Dolores Moffat pay close attention as the design is completed.

Attention to the amazing detail of the floral design.

Bo and Hilary enjoying the day.

And here we see the final design - and it is lovely. We all wished we could do this with our roses. But it takes years of instruction and practice, practice, practice!

Barbara Thompson chose a shady spot to relax and observe the demonstration.

Greg and Erika in conversation during lunch.

Gregg Cook and Thomas Bolden talk roses ... perhaps we'll see some of their winning entries on the show table next Spring!

The shady steps were a nice place to rest and observe the demonstration.
